A northern suburb of Denver , Commerce City is a mixed residential and industrial community that is most recently known for Dick's Sporting Goods Park, a new soccer stadium that hosts the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. The first annual Mile High Music Festival, a new venue to the area and hopefully an annual event, brought Tom Petty, John Mayer, and The Dave Matthews Band to Dick's park in July of 2008.
According to the United States Census Bureau ( ), the city has a total area of 25.9 square miles of land and over 21,000 people of mixed racial makeup. The median income for a household in the city was around $35,000. “Project Odyssey” brought a refinery upgrade to the combined facility in Commerce City , the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region.
